After a long preseason the boy’s were excited to get started last Friday, however, mother nature had her own plans. With heavy rain, tornado sirens, and some lightning and thunder delays the boys were ultimately disappointed to find out the game would be postponed. All of their work and excitement ended in 3 hours on a bus.
Flash forward to Wednesday, September 4. Mehlville would play host to Pattonville, a team we have never competed against. Although the game was a bit sloppy and sometimes hectic, the Panthers would manage to find the net 3 times. Sandy and Kass would record their first competitive varsity goals with Ricky pitching in to the scoring, as well as, John recording an assist and Kiko getting into the stat sheet with his first varsity points on an assist. Ian kept us in the driver’s seat in goal, and Meldin entered the match in the second half where he helped preserve the win by finishing off the game with his first shutout. Lots of memorable firsts for our guys on this day, but stronger competition is lurking around the corner and the team focus and responsibility will have to be sharper in coming matches.
